About Counties Manukau District:
Counties Manukau District provides health and disability services to over 500,000 people in our local community. We are focused on achieving better health outcomes for our growing patient population, with particular emphasis on Maaori and Pacific peoples and other communities with health disparities.
About the Opportunity:
Reporting to the Tumu Tikanga, you will be providing positive relationships and meaningful partnerships with Maaori stakeholders, and responsible for connecting Te Whatu Ora, Counties Manukau, and local iwi groups. The aim is to facilitate the partnership between Te Whatu Ora, Counties Manukau and Maaori stakeholders that is built on trust and mutual respect. This is a part time position working 20 hours a week Monday to Friday. The idea candidate will;
- Develop and implement in consultation with key stakeholders, processes that enable consistent and appropriate engagement with Maaori stakeholders
- Ensure the aspirations of Maaori stakeholders are known and communicated in all relevant forums across the organisation
- Elevate the voice of Maaori stakeholders / Maaori in forums to influence service delivery for Maaori
- Provide high quality cultural and strategic advice to both parties
- Facilitate Maaori stakeholder’s participation in decision making in important topics for Maaori stakeholders
About You:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent Te Ao Maaori real world experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a health or sector
- Experience in working with Maaori stakeholders groups and Iwi Leads
- A commitment to achieving equitable outcomes for Māori
- Knowledge of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven ability to be self- motivated and work autonomously within a team
